Therefore, not only are all the shades on the Sephora Shelves,all the shades are finally online. That means, the real wait is finally over. At last, we can purchase Huda’s first foundation – The Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation! However, now for the hard part, we have to choose our correct shade from thirty available colors. In order to choose the correct shade, it is essential that you know two important facts about your skin. First, you need to know your skin tone, Second, Also, very important, you must know your skin’s undertone.
Find Your Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation Shade: Skin Tone and Undertone
First of all, do you know your skin tone? Is your complexion fair, light, medium, tan or rich?For example, my complexion is medium, or medium-tan, depending on the time of year. In the winter, I get much lighter, Therefore, I am medium. However, during the summer months, my complexion changes, and I am medium-tan.
Whatever your skin tone is, any of the skin tones can have any of the undertones. First, if you are a warm undertone, you’ll have golden, peachy, olive or yellow undertones. And, if you are a cool undertone, you’ll have blue, red or pink undertones. However, if you have both warm and cool undertones, then your undertone is neutral.
So, in order to choose your shade, first go to the row, in pink, that denotes your skin tone.
Next, you’ll choose your shade from the six shades available in each category. Each shade has a name, and underneath there is a number. Next to the number, is a letter. The letter signifies what undertone the shade is. For example, Cool Undertones have the letter B, or R. On the one hand, the letter B represents a beige shade that has blue undertones. On the other hand, the letter R signifies a Red shade that has red undertones. For instance, my undertone is Warm. Therefore, the letter G signifies Golden or Yellow undertones. Moreover, N is a neutral undertone. Seeing that undertone plays a major role in selecting your foundation shade, it is important to go over how to find out what your undertone is.
I chose two shades, Amaretti and Tres Leches. Amaretti has more yellow in it than Tres Leches. I can either mix them, or wear Tres Leches in the summer.
How To Discover What Your Undertone Is
There are a few tricks to finding out what your undertone is. One way is that your eyes and hair can indicate your undertone. To illustrate, if you have cool undertones, most likely your hair is brown,black or blond. And, your eyes are blue, grey or green. But, if you have warm undertones, your hair is red, brown, black, or strawberry blonde. And, your eyes are either brown, hazel or amber.
Another way to determine you undertone is to ask yourself “Which Jewelry do you prefer?” If you love the way gold jewelry brings out your glow, then you’re probably warm. Although, if you think that Silver Jewelry makes your skin look more alive, then you are generally cool toned. However, if you look great in both silver and gold jewelry you are very lucky,and you are most likely neutral.
Additionally, how do you tan? For instance, I tan easily, so I am warm toned. However, Pinky burns easily, therefore, she is cool toned. And, my daughter-in-law, Bikini, tans slowly, which would make her neutral.
Also, what are your favorite lipstick shades? First, if you are cool toned, you will look amazing in reds with blue undertones, berry hues and rosy pinks. And, you will need to avoid lipstick with yellow or orange tinges! I am warm toned, and most of my lipsticks are corals, peachy pinks, orange-toned reds and rosy nude shades. Although, if you have no cool or warm tones, you are neutral. And, chances are you can wear any shade of lipstick.

I think every foundation should have a pump, because it make it easier to get it out of the bottle. Therefore, it is easier to apply it because you are not fussing with attempting to get the formula out of the bottle. On the other hand, you may get too much out of a bottle without a pump. All in all, it is just easy to use a pump!

If you’re wondering if the Faux Filter Foundation was worth the long wait, I believe it is. First, I love the broad spectrum color range, there are 30 shades to choose from. And, I love the Instagram Glow that results from the dewy formula. Actually, dewy skin is my favorite finish! Also, it doesn’t settle into fine lines and wrinkles. The formula is buildable, and it gives you a heavy coverage. Furthermore, the formula can double as a concealer. Most of all, it gives you a long-lasting finish!!!
