Happy Tuesday! The Wedding Countdown Continues- we’re getting closer-just 5 more days!!!! We are practicing staying Calm!
Does it really matter in what order we apply our skincare? The answer is Yes, the sequence matters a lot. When you apply your skincare in the proper order you ensure that your skin will receive the fullest benefits each product can provide.

Besides the correct application order, timing is also crucial when you apply your skincare steps. It takes time for your skin to absorb the product. If you add a new product to a product that has not yet fully absorbed, the active ingredients from both products could be inhibited from working properly.

The easiest rule of thumb to follow is to apply your products with the thinnest consistency first, and continue in that order to the product with the thickest consistency. Think liquid to oil.

For the Day experts recommend a simple cleanser, followed by a toner, a light moisturizer/day cream and a sunscreen routine.

Night is more involved, because you have to remove makeup, dirt, and grime from your skin, and many skincare ingredients work well while you sleep. So your skin definitely needs to be prepared for the efficacy of your night time routine which involves treatments, double cleansing, and exfoliating dead cells from the day so your skincare works!!!! .

To remove dirt and oil buildup it is important to use the double cleansing method to clean your skin. This is the most important step in your whole routine. If your skin isn’t clean and prepared for the serums and creams, their efficacy is worthless.

Step 1 A – Start with a Cleanser Oil to remove your makeup, and the dirt and oils from the day. Cleansing oil dissolves makeup, because a lot of makeup is oil-based and oil removes oil.

Also, cleansing oil removes oil gently without stripping the skin of it’s natural oils.

Step one part B in the two step cleansing routine is to use a foaming cleanser to further remove excess dirt and makeup.

Step two is to Exfoliate Your Skin to remove all the dead skin cells.

Now Your skin is perfectly prepped to absorb the skin care products.
Step Three is to use your Toner.

Toners serve multiple purposes because they are intended for different skin issues. Make sure you choose the right one for your skin concerns. They also act as a delivery system for antioxidants and vitamin B derivatives and toning acids.
Step four is for you to apply any prescription meds and spot treatments.

Prescription meds and spot treatments need to be applied as close to the skin as possible to maximize their benefits.

Step five is for your serum.
Serums are super concentrated, nutrient dense treatments that address your specific concerns. They should be applied as close to the skin as possible. If you use multiple serums, apply them using the thinnest to thickest rule, applying the thinnest first and so on.

Step six is to apply your eye cream. Eye creams improve the quality of the eye area, maintain healthy skin and skin thickness, and help to keep the elasticity of the skin around your eyes. Consistency is the key for the best results. Experts suggest you use your eye cream two times a day.

Step seven is to apply your moisture or facial oil. Experts suggest you look for ingredients such as glycern (glycerol), hyaloronic acid, ceramides, shea butter, coconut oil and other plant based oils.

The best time to apply moisture or facial oil is when the skin is moist because it locks hydration in.

This routine allows for the greater absorption of nutrients. Remember, what works for your best friend is not necessarily what will work for you. We are all unique-even down to our skin concerns. My advice is to find out what products work best FOR YOU!
