The Tom Ford 2021 Holiday Collection included Two Extreme Eyeshadow Palettes and three Extreme LIpsticks!  I ordered the collection the day the collection launched from Beautylish.  Unfortunately, we all remember, the supply chain issue here in the US. So, Beautylish got in touch with me, and asked if I wanted to cancel the collection, or wait until it came in. I chose the latter.  Yesterday, on February 1st, the collection finally arrived on my doorstep!  It just so happens, As of today, TF has launched 3 brand new eyeshadow palettes . And, these new palettes come in a new cream formula.  Hopefully, we won’t have to wait til next Christmas for the new Cream Palettes!  Nothing like being behind the 8 ball!

Anywhoo,Even. though it is 2002, I am showing you one of the Tom Ford Holiday 2021  Extreme Eyeshadow Palettes , X2 Lavalustre.  The palette has 4 high-impact, multidimensional shades.  Perfect for the Holidays! LOL!  Now, you can wear it on Valentine’s Day.  However, after playing with these shades,  you really can wear these shades all year round.  Keep reading to see why you can wear X2 Lavalustre as often as you want.

You can find the Tom Ford Extreme X2 Lavalustre Eye Color Quad on Beautylish and on the Tom Ford Website.  The X2 Lavalustre Eye Quad (.33 0z. / 9.5g) costs $89.

The Extreme X2 Lavalust Palette comes packaged in one of the brand’s signature, silver metallic outer box. Inside the box is the eye quad, and the compact comes in a white dust bag. The compact is a stunner, it is an ombre silver, to snow white, case.  The Case has a magnetic closure. A  full mirror underneath the lid, and opposite the mirror, are the four pans, with the eyeshadows.  Also Included are two very tiny dual-ended applicators, one has a sponge on both ends. the other one has a sponge on one end and a brush on the other.

One thing you need to know, is the formula, a creamy powder base, has chunks of color-shifting glitter in it.  The formula is multichromatic, and multidimensional.  In the pan, the shades like like they would give you good color payoff.  And, they do when you apply them with your finger.  Although, when you use a brush, and apply the shades dry, the shades are very sheer.  They are so sheer, that you could really use them as a shadow topper. This would make a beautiful effect.  When you mist the brush with water, or a setting spray, the shades are more pigmented, and they have a smoother application.  Yet, most metallic shades always have their best color payoff when used with your finger.  Also, the shades are very buildable when you use your finger. That is where you’ll get your high impact finish.  Also, you can layer the shades. Compared to Pat McGrath Mothership Metallics, the Tom Ford formula feels softer.  Finally, there is a lot of glitter fallout.  Therefore, I recommend you do your eyes first, then apply your foundation, blush, etc.

The Lavalust Shades

swatches of the Lavalust Palette

The Shades on the top row (left to right)

The shadow on the top left, a true gold shade, has a shimmering metallic finish.  Wear this shade all over your eyelids.  Also, you can use a brush, and keep the shadow dry, to highlight the inner corners of your eyes, and your brow bones. Wet your eyeliner brush if you want to line your lower, or upper lash lines with the gold shimmering metallic shade.

Next, the shadow on the top right, a corally orange shade with a gold shift, has a duochrome, metallic finish.  I love this coral orange shade with a rose-gold shift, all over the eyelid.  Use your finger to get a high impact look.

The Shades on the bottom row (left to right)

The shadow on the bottom left, a red shade with a gold shift, has a duochrome, metallic finish. I tried the red duochrome all over my eyelid, and I used the true gold shadow on my brow bone and inner corners of my eye.

Next, the shadow on the bottom right, a pink champagne shade, has a shimmering metallic finish.PInk Champagne allover the eyelids is beautiful.  Or, wear this shade as a highlighter, on your brow bones, and on the inner corners of your eyes.

You could use the darker, duochrome shades as eyeliners, if you wet the brush, and brush it on.  Although, you will get a ton of glitter fallout.  So, if you do want to wear this as eyeliner, make sure you do your eyes before you do the rest of your face.

Finally, I think this is a gorgeous metallic, and duochrome palette. Although, I also think it is difficult to wear all metallic eyeshadows because then you are really missing depth.  My suggestion is, use a crease shade, like a bronze shade, or a bronzer, in your crease, and the outer corners of your eyes to create some depth. Then, if you want to go in with one of the metallics, do so over the crease shade.  So, my last thoughts are, use this palette in conjunction with other palettes, to give your eyes multidimensional, multichromatic looks.
