Violette Serrat, a French Makeup Guru, who happens to live in Brooklyn, New York, is the embodiment of French Girl Beauty. According to Violette, “French-girl beauty means trying to look natural and effortless, which doesn’t necessarily mean being effortless. There is a lot of effort behind this natural look and all French women know that, but don’t want it to show.” Last Summer, July 2021, Violette became the Guerlain-creative director of makeup. Now, it is up to her to begin the next chapter in Guerlain’s long (190 year) history. She has gotten off to a really good start with the Guerlain Fall 2022 Ombres G Eyeshadow Quads.
There are six stunning new Ombres G eyeshadow palettes in the Fall Collection. Each palette includes 4 multi-effect shadows, composed of four harmonious colors – intense satin, a deep matte, a luminous metallic finish, and a radiant pearl. that create daring looks. Violette, Guerlain’s Creative Director of Make-Up, has imagined eyeshadow palettes, which allow you to play with shades, textures, and finishes, to endlessly transform your eyes both day and night! There are six palettes in the collection. I chose three of the palettes, each quad is unique, and stands apart from the others. The Palettes I purchased are 011 Imperial Moon, 214 Exotic Orchid, and 360 Mystic Peacock.
Guerlain’s aim has been that 100% of Guerlain products would be eco-designed . The newly redesigned packaging for Orchidée Impériale includes a pot that’s 60% lighter than before, and 95% of their perfume bottles are recycled through CEDRE, LVMH’s recycling platform. “Perhaps this is the most difficult part of our work because if it you think about luxury in the beauty business, the more layers in packaging, the better. As a result, the brand put C02 impact first; it’s not ecological at all to have so many layers of paper. “We are working to preserve the beauty of our products but reduce the impact of the packaging.” The shiny Black outer carton with gold writing, is recyclable, as it is made with FSC Mix. FSC mixed: A mix means at least 70 percent of the wood in a product comes from FSC-certified or recycled material; while 30 percent is made of controlled wood.
The eyeshadow cases are highly reflective gold, with the Guerlain logo in the center of the palette. The lip on the palette says Guerlain in block letters. To open the palette pull up on the lip, while holding the palette from underneath.
The case closes by pushing down on the lid, and hearing it click closed. Inside, the palette has a beautiful mirror underneath the lid. On the other side of the palette are four large eyeshadow pans, in two rows of two. Also, the cases come in velvet dustbags,There are two dual-sided applicators. Each applicator has a sponge applicator on one side. One applicator has a pointy sponge applicator to draw a thin line for eyeliner, and the other applicator has a brush, to brush on, or blend colors together.
The one callout ingredient,Winter Rose Oil, is included in the formula because it creates a soft and comfortable formula that glides on upon application. The Ombres G Eyeshadow Palette quads have an exceptional, talc-free texture made up of intense pigments for long-lasting color.
The exceptional texture includes buildable pigments that provide the long-lasting color, and offer unparalleled depth.

Imperial Moon
The Imperial Moon Ombres G Quad, silvery black shades and a nude, creates a sophisticated smoky effect with a hint of nude.

For me, this palette is the timeless, and ethereal palette in the collection. This is the perfect palette that can be worn by almost anyone. I really love and look forward to wearing Imperial Moon in the late fall and winter. It leans toward cool toned shades. The black shade is interesting because the finish is not a matte, nor is it shimmery. It is more of a satin finish. I love the ever-so-slight metallic silver shade on the bottom right. The silver shimmer on the top right is the perfect inner corner pop shade, in the center of your eyelid pop shade, or a highlighter for your brow bone. The black shade can go all over the lid, with one of the other colors on top, to make the shades stand out more, and the nude shade can go on the eyelids, or in the crease, on top of the black.
Exotic Orchid 214
Exotic Orchid Ombres G Quad, is shades of burgundy, a brown, and a gold shade.
Exotic Orchid Swatches
The Exotic Orchid Palette leans on the warm side.
These shades look great now, while we are still in summer, also a great fall palette.
Mystic Peacock 360
The Mystic Peacock Quad, is the combination of different shades of blue borrowed from the gradation of peacock feathers, and is enhanced by the sheen of coppery shades and a brown shade. The Mystic Peacock Palette is my favorite color story.

The colors stand out more than the other palettes. I love the blue shades. Wear them together, on the eyelid, use one for eyeliner, and wear the black underneath the blue to change it up. Even though this one is my favorite, I already know that it won’t be worn as an everyday palette, like the other two, and probably will be used infrequently. But, as the holiday season draws closer, it is definitely going to come in handy. The shades are so gorgeous in this one, I know I’ll get wear out of it.
Finally, I really love the new Violette Created Guerlain Ombre G Palettes. The three I purchased are so different from each other, so when worn, the looks will also be stand alone looks.

I like that there are only 4 curated shades in each palette. It makes it really easy to create effortless looks. I Love the texture of the formula, and the rich pigments. It wasn’t hard for me to choose, because I chose three, however, if you only purchase one or two, choose the palette or palettes that you know you’ll wear a lot.
