Tuesday Tip -Trending Now : The No Makeup Makeup Look

MakeupTrends

Don’t be fooled by the “No Makeup Makeup Look”.  It is truly an oxymoron in the beauty world. The fresh-faced look is at the opposite end of the spectrum for a camera ready fully made up look.  The Kardashians spread this heavily made-up look like wildfire on social media.  At the opposite end of the spectrum, another product of social media, is the move toward minimal makeup with posted selfies that say “I woke up like this!” “I don’t need to cover up who I am!”

The truth is, bare skin can be pretty daunting.  The No Makeup Makeup look actually takes a lot of work, and more important, it needs MAKEUP to achieve the dewy, illuminated look of not wearing makeup. The reality is that when women want to wear the no makeup look, they still feel more comfortable with makeup.  They just need the right products to make them look like they aren’t wearing makeup.(See what I mean by oxymoron!) Companies sell as much makeup for the natural look as they do for a makeup-wearing look.  They responded to the bare look by providing lighter foundations, sheerer lip glosses and new products to accentuate cheekbones and brows which are two features that are extremely important to the bare look.

How-to-create-the-No-Makeup-look

First things first.  If you want to create the no makeup look and you don’t want to wear too much makeup creating the look, the before-hand preparation is just as important as the makeup itself.  First, you need to start with a perfect canvas.  Make sure you exfoliate your face.  Another trick, dermaplating, is basically shaving off dead skin and unwanted facial hair.  This helps makeup go on smoothly.  Treat your skin with a power-packed serum/moisturizer with vitamin C or retinol to keep skin bright and continuously renew cells for a youthful glow.Don’t use anything with parabens.  Make sure that essential oils are listed in the last few ingredients.  They are used as preservatives in place of parabens.  Always protect your skin by wearing an spf.  This will prevent dark spots, sun spots, or pigmentation issues.  Lastly, use pure, potent, skin regenerating ingredients. If you even attempt wearing absolutely no makeup at all, try peels and micro-dermabrasion for the most optimal, perfect complexion.

Remember, the better condition you skin is in, the less makeup you need!  So, spend more time on your evening beauty skin care routine. Also, keep in mind, the natural look is a shift from the type of makeup you use, it is not a departure from cosmetics altogether.

Flesh-toned powders, creams and contouring products give the illusion of sculpted cheekbones, nose and chin.  This makes it possible to wear less color makeup, such as blush, because you now have the perfect canvas.

Eye Brows are integral to the no-makeup look.  The perfectly “made up” brow is all you need to go out without makeup on.  Also, concealer is core to the look.  You need to spot-treat flaws such as blemishes, and dark circles to go without any makeup.

Start fresh by massaging a few drops of face oil onto the face.  Follow this with your moisturizer. Use an eye cream, and a lip conditioner.  Let set for a few minutes. This creates skin that appears well hydrated and luminous.  You can even out your skin-tone with a tinted moisturizer so you are not hiding your skin’s texture, and it reduces redness ad makes skin look well rested and smooth.

Even out your complexion.  Use a primer to absorb excess oil, and blur pores. This also provides staying power for your makeup.

Use a Concealer for under eye circles, blemishes and flaws.

Apply foundation in the center of your face, and brush outward from the center. Then buff.

You can also use a foundation as your concealer because it is more sheer than concealer , dot some under the eyes, smooth it around your nostrils, and blend it in the inner corners of your eyes.

Use a light setting powder to lock in place tinted moisturizer, and concealer, or foundation to provide extra staying power.

Bring back a little color and natural glow by dusting a bronzer around sides of your face and under your cheekbones and on the jaw line.  Next add a light color cream blush on cheeks with a stippling brush for a subtle wash of color.  Add a little highlighter to the cheekbone, cupid’s bow, and the bridge of your nose.
