Tom Ford Extreme X1 Metallist Eyeshadow Quad

Here is the Tom Ford Extreme X1 Metallist Eyeshadow Quad, one of two Tom Ford Extreme Quads, in the Tom Ford Holiday 2021 Collection.  Why am I writing about Tom Ford’s Holiday Collection, now, in February 2022. I ordered the collection, The Tom Ford Extreme X1  Metallist Eyeshadow Quad, The Tom Ford Extreme X1 Lavalust Eyeshadow Quad, and three Brand New Extreme matte lipsticks. My collection, as well as a lot of others, got tied up on a ship, caught up in the supply chain issue that was , and still is, going on.So, Beautylish Sent me my TF Holiday Collection, which I received on February 1ar, just in time for the Chinese Lunar New Year!  Today, I want to show you the Extreme X1 Metallist Palette.

I am glad that I reviewed the X2 Lavalust Palette first, four multidimensional, multichrome shades, because I felt the palette was lacking a shade for depth.  Now, the X1 Metallust Palette is exactly what I was talking about.  The palette includes two  Brown creamy matte shades, and two neutral multidimensional, multichrome shades.  One of the creamy matte shades could act as a shadow base, or a transition shade.  The other matte brown shade is your depth!  Then, you can use the two sparkling shades as a highlighter, eyeshadow topper, or wear them on your eyelids.   As much as we all love sparkles, an all sparkle quad would need a color from somewhere else, even a bronzer, to create depth.  I don’t think sparkle stands out without depth.  Therefore, the Metallust Palette is the better of the two in the Tom Ford Holiday Collection.

You can find the Tom Ford Extreme X1 Metallist Eyeshadow Quad on Beautylish.  The Extreme X1 Metallist Eyeshadow Quad (0.01 0z. / 0.35g ) costs $89.

Special Extreme Packaging for the Extreme Holiday 2021 Collection includes a luxe silver, that ombres to white ,compact, with a magnetic closure. The compact comes in a white TF dust bag. Also, the inside looks like all of the Tom Ford Quads, a mirror underneath the lid on one side, and the eyeshadow pans on the other side. Also included are two tiny dual-ended applicators.  One has a sponge on both ends, the other has a sponge on one end and a brush on the other end.

Extreme X1 Metallist Eye Quad Ingredients

The formula includes matte and multichrome finishes.  The matte shadows are soft, and are super easy to apply.  This is because the matte formula is a new creamy powder formula. It is so creamy,  it melts into your skin. You can easily mix the two matte shades together, layer them, and build them for more intense color. There is fallout, from the matte shades,  which I attribute to the delicate nature of the formula.  Also, the matte shades are richly pigmented, for high impact color payoff.  The TF matte formula has come a long way from the traditional formula, where the matte shades were dry.

The multichrome, multidimensional formula, a creamy powder base, has chunks of color-shifting glitter in it. In the pan, the shades like like they would give you good color payoff.  And, they do when you apply them with your finger.

Although, when you use a brush, and apply the shades dry, the shades are very sheer.  They are so sheer, that you could really use them as a shadow topper. This would make a beautiful effect.  When you mist the brush with water, or a setting spray, the shades are more pigmented, and they have a smoother application.

Yet, most metallic shades always have their best color payoff when used with your finger.  Also, the shades are very buildable when you use your finger. That is where you’ll get your high impact finish.  Also, you can layer the shades. Compared to Pat McGrath Mothership Metallics, the Tom Ford formula feels softer.  Finally, there is a lot of glitter fallout.  Therefore, I recommend you do your eyes first, then apply your foundation, blush, etc.

The Shades

Top Row Across (Left to Right)

The shadow on the top left, a soft cafe au lait shade, has a creamy matte finish. Although,I would wear this shade all over the eyelids, and in my crease.  Also, I would use this to transition the deeper chocolate brown shade.

The shadow on the top right, a gold yellow with a pink champagne shift, has a multichrome, multidimensional, finish. I consider this a color shifting shade, a duochrome.    Use this shade with a brush as a topcoat, or as a highlighter on your brow bones, and on the inner corners of your eyes.  When apply this shade with your finger, you get more intense, high impact color.  Then, I would love it on your eyelids.

Bottom Row Across (Left to Right)

Next, the shadow on the bottom left, a silver/grey shade with a gold shift, has a duochrome finish. If you use a brush,  wear this shade as a highlighter, on the brow bone, and in the corners of your eyes.  Also, you can wear this shade, with a brush, as an eyeshadow topper.  Use your finger, and pop this shade in the center of your eyelids.  Or, where the shade on your eyelids, and on top of one of the brown shade, in the crease.

Last, the bottom left shadow, a deep chocolate brown shade, has a creamy matte finish.  I love this shade in your crease, on the outer corners of your eyes, and as a liner, to line your upper and lower lash lines.

This is a beautiful, neutral palette.  It has matte and multichrome, multidimensional shades.  The color story is nothing new.  I am sure you have this color story in your makeup collection.  So, if you love Tom Ford, Holiday Collections you get a year later, or just love this palette, then go for it. If you don’t have shades like these, or you love the way these shadows are curated, then go for it.  YOu still can get a lot of looks from the palette.  You can do looks using either the shades on the top row, or the shades on the bottom row.  You can use the multichrome shades with a brush for a sheer look.

You can get a real holiday look using your finger with the multichrome shades.  Or, if you purchase both of the Holiday Palettes, you can use the brown shades from the Metallist palette as depth shades for the Lavalust Palette!  I ,personally, am looking forward to the three new Cream Tom Ford Palettes I ordered from Sephora!
