The New Limited Edition Les 4 Rouges Yeux et Joues comes in two colors. Shade #957 is Tendresse, which is the lighter palette of the two. The Other Shade is #958 Caractere, the darker palette. Both palettes are celebrations of the color Red. Therefore, both palettes explore all the nuances of the color red. Even more, the palettes are multifunctional, meaning that the shades can be worn on your cheeks and your eyes. Both palettes have a highlighter, as well as a deeper shade that can be used as a contour, or a bronzer. Also the deeper shades can be used as eyeshadows, and the darkest shade can be used as an eyeliner. Therefore the new Eyeshadow and Blush Palettes are very versatile. One last thing, don’t let the Red shades scare you, they may look fierce in the pan, but on your face they are not what you would call “in your face!” The shades are softer than they appear in the pan, and the medium pigments are sheerer than they look.
You can find the Limited Edition Chanel Eyeshadow and Blush Palettes in Tendres and Caractere at Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom and on the Chanel Beauty Website. The Eyeshadow & Blush Les 4 Rouges Collection each (0.42 oz./12g) costs $90.
The compacts come packaged in shiny black boxes, with white writing. The cases that hold the palettes are also shiny black signature Chanel cases with the white interlocking double c in the center of the top lid. Inside, there is a full mirror underneath the lid of the case. On the other side of the case are the 4 circular pans that hold the shades, in two rows of two. Above all, these cases are OVERSIZED, which means the shades are oversized. These two palettes are really very big, bigger than the palm of your hand! It is a real wow when you first see it. Each palette has one light shimmer shade, one dark shade, and two medium shades.
The Formula is a powder that has a baked finish. The shades are versatile, with similar undertones, so that you can layer and mix them without them becoming muddy looking. The texture allows you to layer the shades seamlessly. Also, the powders apply like silk, without any texture, and the shades look like skin. Finally, the shades look intimidating, but they are nothing to be afraid of. The pigments aren’t very pigmented, so the shades really are pretty sheer. Multiple shades can be blended together to create a new shade.
