Bobby Jean and I were running through Nordstrom’s, doing some last minute holiday shopping, when I spotted the Chanel counter, and, much to Bobbie Jean’s chagrin, I just couldn’t resist the New Collection for Spring 2017 (even though we had yet to have Christmas or Hanukkah !) Bobbie Jean tried and failed to keep me away from the makeup counters. I was drawn to the Chanel Les 4 Ombres 274 Quad, Codes Elegantes ($61), the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lip Rouge 61 La Secrete($37) and the Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof, Long Lasting Eyeliner 931 Noir Petrole ($31). These are just a few things, a glimpse of what is in the Chanel Spring Collection for 2017.
Chanel’s Global Creative Makeup and Color Designer, Lucia Pica created the Spring Collection based on the five iconic color codes of the lady herself, Coco Chanel.
These iconic shades of Chanel’s color codes are : Black, Red, Gold, White and Beige.

Les 4 Ombres, the Multiple Effect Quadra Eyeshadow Palette 274 Codes Elegante is based on the threads that were used to create the iconic Chanel tweed jackets.

From the left is Dark Brown, Warm Mustard-Gold, Platinum White, and a Soft Yellow Gold.

Soft yellow gold swatches – the shade is extremely sheer, and it can easily be layered to create a more opaque shade.

Platinum, White is a semi -opaque shade that can easily be layered to become more opaque.

Swatches of the Warm, Mustard Gold. It is semi-opaque, and can be layered to become opaque.

Dark brown is opaque, and can be layered to become even more intense. This is also a shade you can use to line your eyes.

The swatches on my arm from the left: the soft, yellow gold is very sheer. I use it as a highlighter. Next, the platinum white shade is semi-opaque, as is the warm mustard-gold shade. The platinum and mustard-gold I use on my eyelids. The dark brown shade is opaque, and is great in the crease. The shades are easy to blend, and are very buildable as you can see from all of the above swatches.

To finish my eye, I purchased the Waterproof Stylo Yeux, Long-Lasting Eyeliner in 931 Noir Petrole. This shade is a Limited Edition.

The color is a black with gold flecks that make the shade look like a soft brownish-gray. Sort of like a gasoline spill looks like lying in a puddle on the street.

This photo was taken with more light, so you get an idea what the shade would look like if you were wearing it on a sunny day. It definitely picks up a lot more of the gold flecks.

In inside light, the shade appears to be a deep olive-brown. The liner is creamy and it goes on easily, even in the water line. It is buildable. It didn’t smudge and it stayed on all day! And, it is waterproof. A very long lasting formula-I really like it a lot! It is easy to work with and it doesn’t make my eyes tear.
t

Rouge Allure Velvet has a matte finish, but it is non-drying. The formula contains jojoba oil and shea butter for a comfortable, and moisturized lipstick.

I chose the bright shade 61, La Secrete. It is a very pigmented lipstick. I love when a lipstick has intense color, and this one does!

It is a lovely formula, so the lipstick is a pleasure to wear. It gives me a soft, velvet matte finish that had intense color. La Secrete is a Salmon shade. It is a great color for the Spring. I am traveling in February, so it will be perfects for my trip!

It has some pink in it, but it definitely leans towards the salmon side, especially on me.
Seeing this collection (more so the lipstick color)- when winter has barely begun- makes the Spring seem so far away! I hope we’ll have some snow first! But, some of the collection is perfect for now (the eyes and eyeliner for sure) and I can’t wait to wear the lipstick on my winter vacation in the sun! Is anyone going anywhere exciting this winter? We’re going to Arizona and I am excited because I’ve never been! Not for a while, though! What about you?
You’re Awesome!
