Fenty Beauty Galaxy Eyeshadow Palette

The new, limited edition, Fenty Beauty Galaxy Eyeshadow Palette for Holiday 2017 has had some controversy attached to it.  Because fans are in love with the shadows, they think the palette is  gorgeous and they love it .  Yet, others are disappointed with Rihanna’s foray into the world of Holiday Collections. For this reason, Rihanna wanted her Galaxy Holiday Collection to be the most glittery eyeshadow palette on the market. However, if you don’t love glitter eyeshadow, stop right here,because this palette is not for you.  Above all, my readers know that I love nothing more than a great glittery eyeshadow palette.   Therefore, I purchased the palette to see what was what!   First, let’s take a look at the palette and decide for ourselves if we love the holiday palette, or the Galaxy  Palette is a big disappointment.

First, you have to admit the box is pretty cool. First it has a look that is artsy, rock-star. Furthermore,   Fenty is written in glitter.  In addition, the box has a holographic background.

Next, the outside of the compact is a multicolored holographic metal.  Apparently, it is supposed to resemble a jewelry box.   Also, it is over-sized.

Clearly Rihanna wanted the compact to look like a jewelry box. In fact it housed 14 gorgeous triangular eyeshadow pans with a rainbow of star dusted, glittery shades.   Above all, the eyeshadows  sparkled like jewels. Furthermore, a nice sized mirror is on the inside lid.

Above all, Rihanna wanted to design a palette that would “Launch your eyes into a new Glitter.”  As a result, the 14  celestial-inspired rainbow eyeshadows were formulated with hyper-reflective sparkle, which means lots of glitter.  Hence, the formulas include sheer glitter, holographs, iridescent glitter, and glitter.

Most important to remember, a lot of the shades in the palette are topcoats.  With this in mind, remember that the purpose of a topcoat is to add an extra gleam on top of an eyeshadow. For this reason, topcoats are formulated with more glitter and less pigment.

• First, Mars on Fire is a sheer copper rose glitter.
• Next, Oh – Zone is a sheer platinum glitter.
• Third, Cosmic Ocean is a sheer aqua glitter.

My Conclusion

In conclusion,The Galaxy Palette is a Holiday Palette.  Therefore, when I think about what a Holiday Eyeshadow Palette should be, I am on the same page as Rihanna.  Most of all, I want glitter falling from my eyes like snowflakes in the winter.  However, we all know that glitter can be difficult to work with.  Primarily, because glitter is difficult to apply,  here are three things you can do.  First, you can use a good eyeshadow base on your lid prior to putting glitter on.  Also, use a glitter glue as a lid primer makes a huge difference adhering glitter to your lid.  Further, you can always apply the shadows wet.

Most important , there are two ways to apply glitter to your eye lids. I always use my fingers when I apply glittery shadows.  First, I suggest using your fingers and pressing or patting the shadow on.

The Fenty Galaxy 2 Way Eyeshadow Brush ($24) is a nice, soft dense brush on both ends. I think the palette should include an eyeshadow brush.  However, to include The Galaxy 2 Way Brush would make the palette cost prohibitive.  The brush is great to use to apply the toppers, however, I still think the fingers work the best.

Finally, to really avoid a glitter mess all over your face, do your eyes first.  Next, clean up the glitter that has fallen all over you.  Afterward, put your foundation on and finish your face makeup.
