The new Chanel Fall/Winter Collection , Travel Diary, was inspired by a California Road Trip Lucia Pica , Chanel’s Global Creative Makeup and Color Designer, had taken. “The desert landscapes and sun soaked coastlines” were the inspiration for the colors of the collection.
The primary piece of the collection, Palette Essentielle ($60), was the outcome of Pica’s need for a compact that incorporated three basic face makeup essentials : color, highlighter, and concealer, and what makes this palette exceptional is that the three shades can be mixed to create custom colors.

There are three Palette Essentielles in the Travel Diary Collection.
#150 Beige Clair for the fair and light complexions
#160 Beige Medium for medium complexions
#170 Beige Intense for medium-tan and dark complexions
I purchased #170, Beige Intense because it is still summer, and my skin has more color than it will come October. It is perfect for me now. I may have to go to #160, Beige Medium, when I lighten up.

The formulas of the three shades were created to be mixed. The shades and texture of the palette are unique. The palette is finger friendly. The blush color glides on easily and and blends beautifully. The palette was created to be versatile. Blush can also be used as a lipstick. Mix the highlighter with the blush “color” and create a frosted lip . The highlighter gives the perfect , tasteful, dewy glow that can be worn both for day or night. If you mix the highlighter with the concealer you get a luminous foundation shade. The concealer slips on , is blended easily with the skin, can be used all over the face as a foundation, or to cover imperfections such as dark shadows under your eyes.

I am a big fan of travel friendly makeup and if you are always on the go, this palette is a winner. The shades are easy to apply ( and I use my fingers). The compact is touch-up friendly as well, just keep it in your handbag, and reapply whenever you feel the need to touch up. The shades are long lasting. The formula is pigmented and the shades feel soft . The colors practically slide onto your face, no tugging or rubbing needed and they are super blendable. They are also mixable if you want to transform a shade to create a custom color.

The concealer does a great job covering imperfections, and the highlighter adds freshness and light. I love the red color in this palette because it makes my lips and cheeks pop!
