The newest trend, according to my idol, makeup artist and vlogger, Wayne Goss, the newest trend is called Draping. Although the term Draping is new, the actual trend is a throwback from the 1980’s. No, it is not a new technique. You know that old expression, “what goes around comes around.” Draping is what they did in the 80’s, they just didn’t call it draping. It was and still is contouring using blushers. However, you need not go out now to buy the newest “Draping Palette!” Look through the blushers that you already have!
The Draping Technique:
Pick out a deep shade blush for sculpting, and a lighter shade blush for highlighting and blending.

Now you are going to create a diffused effect.

Using a fan brush, find the hollows of your cheeks. To do this, such in your cheeks. When you suck your cheeks in, you create a shadow where the hollows of your cheeks are. You are going to create color, using your darker blush shade, and you are going to place the color on that shadow where the hollows of your cheeks are. Apply the deeper blush in a line along the hollows of your cheeks. Concentrate the color near the ear, and blend it forward where you would contour. The placement of the brush mimics the shadow you get with a contour powder or cream.

Now take the lighter blush, and go slightly higher on your cheekbones, just above your contour, and slowly diffuse it, blending it with a back and forth motion with your brush until the edges are seamless. You also have softened the look!

You can put a little highlighter on top of your cheekbones for an extra glow. The sheen adds a nice finish for your newly carved cheekbones.

The results you get are astounding. Your cheekbones are sharp because the contouring lines are not interrupted with a patch of blush on the cheeks. Remember NOT to apply a pop of blush to the apples of your cheeks. You want to keep the contour on an angle with a straight line. Do not put a circle, the pop of blush on the cheek, with a straight line (the line of the angled contour).

I really love the Draping Technique because it is more natural and can be a day-time look, and I love that look that draping creates, of a more natural rosy complexion.
You Are Awesome!
