Lisa Eldridge New Seamless Skin Foundation

FaceFoundationMakeup

I was excited for the New LIsa Eldridge Seamless Skin Foundation.  I’m a huge fan of the U.K. based global makeup artist’s work and products.   In my opinion, no lipstick can stand up Lisa’s True Velvet Matte LIpsticks.  She also came out with Lucent Lip Color, a sheer lipstick Also,I am obsessed with her Elevated Glow HIghlighters.  Finally, her Enlivening Glow Blush brightens your complexion. LIsa Eldridge LIsa worked for several years to perfect this foundation.  It launched in the middle of November.  Because no stores carry the foundation, except the LIsa Eldridge Pop Up in Covent Garden, London. Lisa did a well thought out launch.  She sold sample cards.  Altogether,  there are ten cards, with four shades on each.  Or, if you purchased something, you got to choose one sample card for free.  It is really the the only way to test the shades.  The range of shades is extensive, 40 in all! There is a shade for everyone, for every skin tone, and every skin undertone.

You can find the Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin Foundation on the LIsa Eldridge Website.  Also, The Foundation ( 1 fl. oz. / 30 mL) costs $61.

The Packaging

The Foundation comes in a beautiful white box. Lisa’s signature logo is on the box in gold.  Also the box has a special stand to hold the foundation bottle upright. The frosted glass bottle has a matte gold lid that resembles a bullet. It almost looks like a rocket ship. The writing on the bottle is also in gold. The bottle has an indent, so you can lay the bottle down. Otherwise, if you want the bottle to stand upright, you need to put it in the special stand that comes in the outer box.

Simply pull the lid off.  Underneath the lid is a gold pump. Press the pump to dispense the foundation.

The Formula

The skin-friendly formula is self-setting. Hence, you won’t need to set it with a powder.  It is easy to blend, and it leaves a soft-focus effect. The coverage is customizable.  It is a medium coverage that can be dialed up or down.

The Key Active Ingredients include Oxygeskin, a plant-derived biotech, Nasturtium, boosts oxygen levels, helps strengthen the barrier of your skin, boosts hydration, and smooths your skin. Next, Uji Te4a Extract, a Japanese Green Tea Extract, has a high concentration of antioxidants, that stimulates skin’s own defense system to protect from free radical damage, while reducing inflammation and free radical damage.

Also, the formula has a natural mesh-like ingredient, called Filmexel, that completely fuses to your skin, delivering a subtle skin tightening, smoothing, and lifting effect. Glycerin draws moisture into the skin to keep it soft and subtle. Last, Bamboo Stem Extract, an all natural, ultra fine extract rich in silica, helps absorb excess perspiration and sebum for a fresh, soft finish without drying the skin.

The Shades

The shades range from light, to light-medium, medium, medium deep and deep.  The undertones include neutral, golden, rosy, olive, peach, neutral golden, neutral olive, neutral rosy, True Olive, Golden Olive, red, neutral red, rosy red, terracotta, and golden terracotta.

I decided on shade #10, a light-to medium shade with neutral undertones. The foundation has a satin-matte finish, that is very skin-like!  Therefore it is not matte, nor is it dewy.

Application

First,it is important to prep your skin according to your specific needs.  For me, I have mature, dry skin. Therefore, I either need a very lubricating primer, like Victoria Beckham, or Gucci, or a very good skin oil. I love Argan Oil.  Also, if I want the foundation to be a bit more  of a dewy finish, I can add moisturizer to the foundation. This gives me a light, tinted moisturizer look.  If it is too shiny, then add powder. If it is too matte, apply more moisture underneath.  Furthermore, according to LIsa, apply in thin layers. So, start with a half a pump.  Then, go from there.  Remember, the foundation is really pigmented. So, less is more.  Evenmore, use the foundation to conceal your imperfections.  Remember, the foundation is self-setting.  It takes about one to two minutes.

Final Thoughts

First, my skin is so dry, I love a  dewy looking foundation. It isn’t aging. This Seamless Skin foundation is not for dewy looks. And,if you want a dewy look, you really have to work at it, adding moisture, applying oil, applying highlighter, etc.  LIsten, very few of us are makeup artists.  I am not a makeup artist.  So, I really don’t want to  have to fool around with my foundation.  That means, I want to  pump it onto the back of my hand, and apply it with a brush.  And, done!  This isn’t that!  Finally, I want some coverage.  This formula is thin.  Plus, you have to apply it in thin layers.  For me, that seems like it will take forever.  And, to be realistic, the formula lasts about six to eight hours.  However, if you want a minimal second skin finish, this is the right foundation for you.  It is for you if you have younger skin.  If you have more mature skin, like me, I don’t think this is the right foundation for you.  If you have dry skin, I would forget this one.  Who wants to add oil, and moisturizer, and this and that, for what? A minimal second skin finish? Nah!
