Huda Mauve Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette

Huda released four new eyeshadow palettes just in time for the holidays.  The new palettes are Obsessions, in Warm Brown, Smokey, Electric and Mauve.  I purchased the Huda Mauve Obsessions Eyeshadows because I love the beautiful dusty rose and plummy shades in this palette. The Obsessions Palettes each have nine pans.  The pans are exactly the same size as the pans in her Desert Dusk and Rose Gold Palettes. However, what makes the Obsessions palettes different are their size. In relation to the older palettes, the Obsessions Palettes are much smaller and more compact. Also, the Obsessions Palettes sell for $27 each, which is a great price point!

Huda created the Obsessions collection because she wanted us to have fun with individual colors.  However, she did not want us to have to purchase individual shades.  Therefore, there are enough individual shades in each of the palettes to create both soft, natural daytime looks, or dramatic, sultry effects for nighttime.

The Packaging For Huda Mauve Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette

The Mauve Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette is small, super compact and light weight.  Moreover, it is packaged in a black box. Furthermore, the compact is also black.  The compact is made from stiff cardboard.  Also, the compact has a magnetic closure. In addition the compact includes a nice size mirror.  There are nine shades in the compact.  In particular three shimmer shadows and six matte shadows create the Mauve Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette.

The Huda Mauve Obsessions Eyeshadow Formula

Most important, the six matte shades in the Mauve Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette have a different, more improved formula than the matte shadows in Huda’s Desert Dusk and Rose Gold Palettes.  To illustrate, the older matte formula was drier and firmer than the Obsessions Formula.  Interestingly, the Obsession mattes are not as dry, a bit more powdery, and they feel velvety and silky.  Therefore, they are much easier to blend and layer with other shades.  

Some of the shades are sheerer than others.  However, the sheer shades build and blend easily.  Most important, even though the colors are strong, they do not turn into the color of mud when two shades are blended together.

The Shimmers are smooth.  Also they are more refined than the older formula.  Furthermore, the shimmers are not chunky. Instead, their texture is very buttery. Hence, the shimmers have little  or no fallout, unlike the fallout from the shimmers in the older palettes.  

All of the shades are richly pigmented and have a creamier texture than the shades in the older palettes.

How To Apply the Mauve Obsession Eyeshadows

First, apply the darker shades in the crease of the eye.  Next apply the lighter hues along the brow bone and on the inner corners of your eyes.

Use a smudge or liner brush to place the darkest shades along your lash-line.

Also, the easiest way to apply the shimmer shades is with your fingertips.  However, you can also use a finishing spray.  Spray the finishing spray on your eyeshadow brush.

Place the shimmers in the centers of your eyelids.  This will amp up the look of your eyes.

The Huda Mauve Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette is filled with the most gorgeous, build-able colors.  The versatility of the palette allows you to create endless eye looks.  Also, it is versatile enough to create looks for day or night.  I love the compact, lightweight packaging.  More important, I appreciate that Huda finally has given us a mirror in the compact.  It is so much better to put eye makeup on while looking in a mirror.  Thank you Huda!  The shades are gorgeous, and the textures are greatly improved from the older palettes.  Oh, and the price point is great!  It also makes a great gift or stocking stuffer!
