Femme de Poppy Lipsticks

Last week, I was looking around my local Ulta, and the one thing I couldn’t find was the Lipstick Queen display.  I know that makeup brands come and go, but Lipstick Queen is a popular brand.  Later, I found out that Poppy no longer is with Lipstick Queen.  Instead, she launched a new brand, Femme de Poppy Lipsticks. Currently, there are three lipstick shades.  First, her one and only formulas, textures and effects are in a class all by themselves. After all, when it comes to lipstick, the Queen of Lipstick knows what she is doing!

You can only get Femme de Poppy Lipsticks at Barneys.  That includes retail stores, and .com.  The lipstick costs $48!

Furthermore, “Powerful Females” inspired Poppy to create her new brand.  And, well thought out ideas are what creates Poppy’s gorgeous lipstick shades.  Above all, Poppy is the Queen of color-changing products.  And, lipsticks aren’t the  only  things that color-transform .  For example, Her Black Lace Rabbit is a color-changing blush. Also, Frog Prince Fairy Tale is a lip gloss and a blush.  Blue By You, and Smokey Lip Kits are also color-transforming.  Like magic, her colors transform.  What is more, every color-morphing product looks different on everyone who wears it.  The reason for this has to do with your body’s  temperature, and chemistry. Hence, the tagline.  First, apply, then wait, and last, look at the color transformation.

Wow!  The packaging is more for a fragrance than it is for a lipstick!  In other words, it is unique.  First, the lipstick comes in a box.  Next, a decorated sleeve wraps the box.

Then, the lipstick comes in a black lacquered tube.   The  tube is weighty plastic.

On the outside of the tube, there is a gold logo, F de P, in a turn of the century (the last century) gothic, or art nouveau font.  In other words, the tube reminds me of my grand-mom’s lipstick.  In fact, when you pull the lid off, you even hear the suction sound that came from grand-mom’s lipstick.  I am imaging that funny, sweet smell of that lipstick.  However, luckily, there is no scent at all.

The tube underneath the lid is gold.  Also, the tube has the logo, only this time it is red.  Therefore, it is pretty simple.

Femme de Poppy Lipsticks Formula

The limited edition formula’s design  works on your lips and your body heat.  In this way, it transforms to your own custom color, with your body’s chemistry and temperature.  As a result, your ultimate color develops and melds with your skin.

Moreover, the formula feels different from today’s formulas.First, it feels like “old school” basic lipsticks.  For example, the formula feels thicker and more substantial on your lips.  For example, it applies firmly with some drag.  On the other hand, today’s lipsticks glide onto your lips. Poppy’s formula feel waxier, so to they don’t slip on your lips!  The new lipsticks have a firmer, stiffer consistency.  Although, when you apply them, they go on smoothly.

Two of the lipsticks, Eve and Emperors Nude, have gold sparkle to make them shimmer.  On the other hand,  Lip en Rose has a dewy matte finish without the shimmer.

Also, the lipsticks are sheer mattes. Although, they are more of a satin matte lipstick.

However, after a few coats, they become opaque. Additionally, the Femme de Poppy lipsticks do not migrate below your lower lip. Nor will they migrate without a lip liner.  Finally, the new lipsticks are buildable.  Also important, the color shift is very minor.  So, if you are expecting a big color surprise, forget about it.   It is not going to happen.

One last thing, if you eat and drink while wearing the lipstick, they won’t last too long.

Femme de Poppy Lipsticks Shades

The three shades are Eve, Lips En Rose, and Emperor’s Nude. All three of these lipsticks are universal. Every skintone can wear a warm peach, a true rose or a blood red. Also, these three shades should be in everyone’s makeup arsenol.  We all need a nude, a red and a pink lipstick. I purchased Eve and Lips en Rose.  Although, I want  get the Emperor’s Nude because it is a beautiful peach shade that has a hint of gold sparkle.  It goes on sheer.  However, go back and forth, on your lips, with the bullet for more of an opaque coverage. I love a perfect peach nude shade, and this is it!

Eve

Poppy’s inspiration for Eve was the Bible Story of Adam and eve. Therefore, Poppy  used the apple, the snake, and Eve’s ‘bad girl attitude,”  creating a red shade that appeared to have the texture of snakeskin.

Eve’s deep red crimson color with gold glitter in(to look like snakeskin) has a matte iridescent finish.  Furthermore, it reminds me of nostalgic Hollywood Red.

Lips En Rose

Lips en Rose is a bold pink shade.  First, Poppy’s inspiration came from the famous French Phrase, La vie en Rose.  This idea is about speaking to the world through rose-colored lips.  According to Poppy, “what you say matters as much as what you do or what you look like.”

Femme De Poppy Lipsticks Last But Not Least……

To begin with, these lipsticks are unique.  For one thing, they look and feel like something out of the past.  So, I started to think about my grandmom and her lipstick, and became Nostalgic.

Poppy King takes a lipstick and makes it her own .  A lot of thought is behind each lipstick. POPPY’S lipsticks tell a story AND  they make a statement,   For Example, Eve is a “bad girls lipstick!” because red lipstick shows attitude.  The red apple, and the snake factored into the making of the shade.  It’s more than interesting how a story about Eve can create a lipstick shade.  It amazes me!  More important, Poppy knows the power behind lipstick. Lipsticks can transform us inside and out. First, they can change the way we look.  And, they can change the way we think!

Poppy knows this better than most lipstick makers.  Perhaps it is because she is a woman?  Don’t you feel better about your self, and more powerful with a red lipstick?  Plus, it makes me feel sexy, sophisticated, and smart.  The days that I wear no makeup, I feel tired, disheveled, and boring.  However, if I am going out, I’ll put my makeup on.
