Byredo, a European luxury brand founded in Stockholm in 2006 by Ben Gorham, with an ambition to translate memories and emotions into products, began life as a perfume, candle, and body care company. More Recently, Byredo developed a range of products such as fragrance, makeup, home, leather goods and accessories. and is sold in more than 40 countries in a very high-end exclusive network worldwide. The Byredo makeup is really cool. The packaging is so beautiful, the cases are pieces of art. So, instead of looking at the cases as something you’ll toss, the packaging is the ‘form and function of the product. As a result, it is vital to the product itself.’ And, the packaging is so unique, and so beautiful, you aren’t gonna toss it anytime soon! Even more, the packaging is a real, visible, personal and sensual object that you can carry around with you. Some of the products I have and would highly recommend are the Byredo Multipurpose Color Sticks, Byredo Lipsticks, and the Byredo Jumbo Kajal Eyeliner Pencil. The New For Spring 2022 Byredo Flora Kalahari 18 Shade Eyeshadow Palette is right up there with the big brands, like Pat McGrath, Natasha Denona, and Tom Ford, to name just a few!
The Limited Edition Flora Kalahari Desert Palette is really interesting. Inspiration for the 18 eyeshadow shades comes from the “imagined hues of an otherworldly desertscape.” The Kalahari Desert is a large semi-arid sandy savannah in Southern Africa. One of the most interesting Kalahari Desert facts is that it is not a desert in the strictest sense of the word, as it receives too much rainfall – between 5 and 10 inches annually. Therefore, the shades are more on the neutral side, earthen hued shades that have pops of pink, coral, and blue.
You can find the New Spring 2022 Byredo Flora Kalahari Eyeshadow Palette at Harrods, Mode Sens , and on the Byredo Website. The Kalahari Desert Eyeshadow Palette (1.05 oz. / 33g) costs $96.
The outer box, essentially folded paper “matchbox” format, adjusted to each product. The boxes, like the majority of Byredo’s secondary packs, use Arctic Papers’ Munken uncoated paper, which is FSC, PEFC and Cradle-to-Cradle certified. The compact, like most of the Byredo makeup, is designed as much for decoration, a piece of art, as it is a makeup case. Therefore, the cases are keepsakes. The shades come packaged in a silver mirrored case, that is stamped with a marble desert flower-that according to the brand, embodies the modern femininity of the palette. The silver mirrored palette looks beautiful, truly, even when it gets your fingerprints all over it. Inside, the case has a magnetic closure. A large mirror underneath the lid, has a removable B, that looks like it is part of the design. It can be removed, especially if you don’t want a B on the center of your face, whilst applying your eyeshadows. The shadows, on the other side of the palette, come in three horizontal rows of six shades each.

Finally, I love this palette. The color story is so different, from what is out there, which is really refreshing and amazing. I love the shade finishes in this palette. The shades are soft, creamy and oh so silky. Very beautiful formula! The Palette places high up on the totem pole, with the few other amazing luxury Eyeshadow Palettes! If you love neutrals, with pops of color, you are going to love this. These neutral shades, if you look at photos of the Kalahari Desert, you will see. I am so tired of the rose pink shadows. Here, there are some, but the palette isn’t all about them. It has a lot of thought behind it, creating the sienna , umber, blue, olives found in the desert. Did you notice that these limited edition shades are arranged in a disrupted way? The reason for this is for you to be inspired to create your own interpretations of how you will use these shades. I think that is really what this palette is all about- for you to create your own looks, instead of painting by numbers.
