Hello Week!
Lately, we are having a love affair with all the makeup.beauty, skincare, and skin-care rituals that the Korean women have been using all their lives. One reason being that Korean Beauty is obsessed with ingredients and formulations that are extremely advanced. As serious as their products are, the Korean Manufacturers put a spin on these incredible products by making them fun with their adorable packaging! Korean makeup is based on Korean Culture which emphasizes the look of pale, dewy skin and the ‘no makeup makeup look’. On the other hand, we in the west emphasize the look of bronze skin (a la Coco Chanel), heavy contouring (a la Kim Kardashian) and matte style. So, east and west are really not on the same page!

Birchbox has created the Best of Korean Makeup Kit ($35) which consists of five full – sized products that are fun and functional. They come in the most adorable Pillow Box, with fun graphics all over it!

Included with the five products is a a product information card. I love that each product is from a different , popular Korean cosmetic brand. This kit allows us the opportunity, not only to try different Korean products, but also to experience five different brands. It gives us a good idea of what K-Beauty makeup is all about.

This is a matte , powder blush in a warm peach shade. It is actually a multi-tasking product because it can be used as a blush to get a great flush, or as a highlighter. The packaging is cool, a transparent compact with the blush seen underneath the lid.

I have an olive complexion, therefore, the blush appeared to be too light when I used it as a blusher. This is where the “multitasker” element of this blush comes into play, because the peachy shade looks great as a highlighter on my olive complexion. If you are pale, the blush will work perfectly as a blush, and you will look like you have a beautiful flush, for me, I could use this as a highlighter, or even an eye shadow. Peach is so in now!

The Berrisom Oops! My Triple Tint Balm in 02 Pink has translucent packaging in a thick plastic clear tube. It is stylish and modern.

Three shades create this unusual lip tint. Swipe it on, and you’ll have an ombre tinted look, which graduates from dark to light pink. The color starts out rich, and begins to fade to almost nothing. It definitely is not so dynamic looking, nor is it uber pigmented, as it looks in the tube. Remember, this is a lip tint, not a matte (or satin) lipstick!
To apply – swipe the tint with the darkest hue facing the center of your mouth.

This swatch of Black Gold is pigmented and it has subtle gold glitter throughout . It glides on smoothly and creamy because it is a gel formula. And the best part is it doesn’t smudge! Yaye! I love the subtle gold glitter in the black liner!

Peripera Wholly Deep Mascara Long Lash, Lengthening formula.

Microfibers are in the formula. These fibers go on each lash individually to add length, so you have long, luxurious lashes!

Too Cool For School Aqua Gel Mist

ingredients for gel mist

Too Cool For School is a well-know Korean Brand. The Aqua Gel Face Mist is in keeping with the Korean skincare method because it keeps the skin refreshed, and hydrated. The Gel Mist’s ingredients include baobob tree oil and plant extracts that moisturize and hydrate skin and give it the famous Korean dewy glow.
I highly recommend this K-Beauty Set. It is a great way to try a range of Korean products, and get familiar with the popular brands, at the same time. You receive five full sized products. Two of the products, the Wholly Deep Mascara, and the Waterproof eye pencil Each sell for $18 a piece, together they add up to $36 dollars (which is a dollar more than the whole kit). So- the best news is, you end up with three full-sized products for free! It is a great deal! And, the kit contains products for eyes, cheeks, lips and skincare. I love the variety! Something for every feature on your face! Try some new brands and get a feel for what K-Beauty is all about, and why it is gaining in its popularity in our western world.
You Are Awesome!
