Reve de Camelia Chanel Illuminating Powder Limited Edition

Why is the Reve de Camelia de Chanel an Illuminating Powder, and not a highlighter?  A highlighter can not be used as an illuminator.  However, an illuminator can be used as a highlighter, on your cheekbones, down the center of your nose, on your brow bones, and on your Cupid’s bow. Although, if you want a bolder highlight, then you would use a highlighter.  The reason is, a highlighter is more pigmented, therefore, it’s more intense. Therefore, your look is going to be more intense. The reason highlighters don’t corner the market on creating glowing complexions is, you wouldn’t put a highlighter all over your face.  Illuminators do not have the intensity of a highlighter. They are designed to. give your skin a perfect all-over glow.  By perfect, I mean a soft, subtle glow that creates a fresh, luminous complexion.  A good illuminator is able to create the look we all want, the lit-from-within look.  The Camelia de Chanel Illuminating Powder is a good illuminator.

The Camelia de Chanel Illuminator is not brand new, although it is new to me.  Chanel first released this Illuminating Powder in December 2016. Although the only difference is the 2016 version came in a red lacquered case. The 2022 version comes packaged in signature Chanel, the black lacquered case.  Just sayin!  I don’t know what color the dust bag was in 2016. The 2022 dust bag comes in the usual black you would expect to see. Inside, there is a mirror underneath the lid.  On the other side is the illuminator pan with the most beautiful, embossed as a camellia flower, illuminator. Also there is a half-moon applicator brush inside.  Even more, in the packaging box, out came a mini  Chanel kabuki brush, which is perfect for applying the powder to your entire face, shoulders, and decolletage.

The White Camellia Flower (the flowers come in many colors) , practically a Chanel emblem, is synonymous with the Chanel brand. Allegedly, it was Coco Chanel’s favorite flower. Therefore, the Camellia flower is seen in many forms throughout the Chanel Collection. I’ve seen the Chanel Camellia as a brooch, a leather applique, gold plated, engraved on the buttons of Chanel jackets and shirts.  Recently, Chanel launched a new foundation, and the star ingredient comes from the red camellia flower. And now, the camillia is embossed in 3D on the Chanel Illuminating Powder!

Reve de Camelia de Chanel Illuminator formula is light and airy, almost delicate. It is supposed to provide aq sheer coverage.  Although, if you want more coverage, you can build for more intensity.  Also, the formula is long-lasting, You’ll be able to get through a whole 8 hours before you notice any fading.  The formula includes tiny micro sparkles, that provide a glow.  The particles are not chunks of glitter!  Also included in the formula are glycerin, and squalane , that make the powder feel soft, and creamy, without drying out your skin.  I am guessing the formula has crushed pearls to create a natural-looking pearlescent glow.  Above all, the formula allows for the perfect “lit from within” look that has afine luminous shimmer.

The illuminating powder only comes in one shade, Beige Rose.  Beige Rose, a stunning pink-tone champagne shade has a natural-looking, pearlescent glow finish.

For a fresh, luminous complexion, apply the illuminating powder all over your face with the included kabuki brush.  Or is you want a touch of radiance, use a softer brush, and pick up a small amount of powder, gently brush it on the areas you want illuminated.  But, remember, this is not a highlighter.

It is an illuminator, that was designed to give your skin a natural glow, that “lit from within” healthy look that we all would like to have.
