The applicator is plastic. 
The Crayon side is in metallic gold. This side looks like a lipstick tube. The gold lid pulls off, and pushes back on. The crayons goes up and down, when you turn the metallic gold base. My crayon popped out! I just popped it back in. 
The glitter side lid is metallic, and it screws to open and close. 
Also, the lid serves as a handle for the doe foot applicator, that you use to apply the glaze. The other side of the glaze is see-through acrylic, so you can see the glistening formula inside.
The call-out ingredients in the formulas are sparkling pearls and water. 
The crayon is easy to apply, and goes on seamlessly. Also the crayon formula blends well, feels creamy, and is richly pigmented .
The crayon can be used alone, which captures a wash of metallic color.
Or, you can apply the glaze on top of the crayon. You can wear the glaze by itself for a wet look. The secret for creating the most elegant glitter glaze is when you apply the glaze top of the crayon.
