Labor Day has passed, and the Fall Season has officially begun. It already feels like fall on the east coast, The air feels cooler, there are too many leaves floating around the pool, and it gets dark earlier and earlier each day. As always, I am excited for the fall season, and I can’t wait to read those thick issues of Vogue, W, and Marie Claire, just to name a few, to see the new fall fashions and the new makeup looks that will be trending. The first and easiest thing I like to change from summer to fall is my Fall Lipstick Colors. The fall lipstick colors that are trending this season (2017) were forecasted on the FW17 Runways.

Nude Lipstick
Nude lipstick was the most popular of all the Fall Lipstick Colors seen on the runways.

You would think that it would be easy to choose a neutral, nude lipstick. But, it is far from being easy. I think nudes are the most difficult shade to choose. For me it is as difficult as choosing a foundation.

The many shades of nude lipstick
There are so many shades with varying undertones of nude lipsticks. Some nude shades have beige undertones, while others have either pink, brown, or orangey or peach undertones.

If you were to experiment and put a bunch of similar nude choices together, you would realize that each one had a different undertone. Also, we think of nude lips as being natural-looking.

Actually, our lips are red, so nudes are not natural-looking at all. The textures of the nude lipsticks can be opaque, creamy or matte. The matte texture makes a real lip statement.

Lip gloss and sheers are easier to wear because more of your natural lip color will come through.
How to pick the right nude
The best way to look for the right tone of nude for your face is to match it with your skintone the your skin’s undertone .
A shade that is too pale may look pastey on your skintone. A brown shade may look drab if you have fair skin. The skin tone in this photo leans toward pink undertones, and this shade of pink is perfect for this skintone.

Another problem with nude lipstick is you need defining makeup to bring life and definition to your face.. One defining look I like to wear with a nude lip is to emphasize my eye makeup by wearing a black eyeliner, and lots of mascara with a neutral eye shadow. Also a bronzer on your cheeks, and a highlighter above your cheeks, and on your brow bone will also emphasize your face and brighten your look.

A smokey eye is another great look with a nude lip. Wearing color on your eyes, which is also a trend this fall, and a neutral, nude lips makes your color-shadowed eyes look more modern, and not so ’80’s.

Using a lip liner will give your lips more definition, it will balance out the shape of your lips and give them a more powerful look, where otherwise your lips may look too light, which can make you look drained , and it could look like you are wearing concealer on your lips. What are your favorite nude lips shades. Which Fall Lipstick Colors will you wear this year? Let me know down below in the comments box.
