Today, I am continuing to review Lucia Pica’s Travel Diary Chanel Makeup Collection for Autumn/Winter 2017. A California Road Trip was the inspiration for her Travel Diary Fall/Winter 2017 Makeup Collection. The five day California Road Trip road trip occurred during the Month of October, beginning and ending in LA , went to Big Sur. Picca has been the Creative Makeup and Color Designer for the past five Chanel Makeup Collections.Pica wanted to take the trip because of her belief that “Luxury today is not just really expensive products, it should include history and personal authenticity”. The trip photos, taken by her photographer friends who also went on the road trip, were the muses for the shades that created the new Autumn Travel Diary collection for 2017.
The Travel Diary Collection includes six lipstick shades, in three of Chanel’s different lipstick formulas. Each of the three formulas includes two shades from the Travel Diary 2017 Collection.
Rouge Allure Velvet Intense Long-Wear Lip Color ($37)is a richly pigmented, non-drying matte with a velvet matte finish. Rouge Allure Velvet includes two new shades in the Travel Diary Collection; #64 First Light, a vivid orange and #63 Night Fall, a clear, true red. Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Color ($37) is a full coverage, hydrating lipstick with a creamy, lightweight finish. Rouge Coco includes shade #747 Daylight LE, a dark salmon/pink shade, and #472 Experimental, a beige nude shade. Rouge Allure Ink Matte Liquid Lip Color ($37) is a long lasting liquid lipstick formula that goes on like a gloss, and sets with a luminous velvet finish. Rouge Allure Ink includes #156 Lost a pinky-beige shade, and #158 Highway LE, a coral/pink shade.
I chose the Rouge Allure Velvet Intense Long-Wear Lip Color in #63 Nightfall.
The lipstick is packaged in a sleek black case, with a gold bottom. Using your finger, press on the gold bottom, and the bottom will pop out for you to pull it away from the black case. The bullet that holds the lipstick is gold. I like the design of the mechanism to open the lipstick, because it makes the lipstick secure when in your handbag. I don’t know about you, but many lipsticks lose their lids in my bag, and the lipstick gets all yucky.
The ingredients include mother-of-pearl pigments that create rich color and a soft finish. Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter moisturize the lips, making the lipstick comfortable to wear. Nightfall has intense color, that is long-wearing. It doesn’t dry out the lips. The finish is matte, and it looks like velvet on the lips.
I love the color of #63 Nightfall, a clear, true red, that is great for any time of the year, but especially gorgeous in the fall when we begin wearing darker shades and more coverage in our lipstick finishes.
It adds another dimension when used in conjunction with the Chanel Essential Palette (that is the basis for an instant face as it includes a concealer hybrid foundation, a hybrid blush/lip shade, and a highlighter.
