Even the best time to see the Northern lights is impossible to predict. It usually depends on the solar maximum/solar minimum cycle, each lasting approximately 11 years. The highest solar activity occurs during the solar maximum, or 2-3 years either side of the maximum. The last maximum to appear was in June 2014. And even though it is thought that more events occur in the declining period, it would be a shame to go all the way to Norway, or Iceland, or wherever the Northern Lights may take you, spend a week in the freezing cold nights, and be so disappointed that you didn’t see anything at all! Why am I talking about the Northern Lights in the first place? Anastasia Beverly Hills newest highlighting palette, Aurora Glow Kit ($40), is named for the Northern Lights. Because it is hit or miss to see the spectacular lights glowing in the night sky, it would be nice to at least experience something that makes you feel otherworldly. The new Aurora Glow Kit should placate your need for an expedition to the North.
Six gorgeous shades of metallic powder highlighters that can be used on your eyes, face and body will placate you with enough excitement to keep you busy until the next eleven year cycle of the solar maximum! Just look at these unique, out of this worldly shades!

Eclipse – pink champagne pearl with a peach reflect
Luna – mother of pearl with an icy orchid reflect
Spectra – sparkling lilac pearl with an iridescent blue-green reflect
Helia – yellow gold pearl with a turquoise reflect
Orion – blue pearl with a purple-amethyst reflect
Lyra – rose gold pearl with a champagne orchid effect

The colors may appear “strange” in their pans, but on the skin they are gorgeous. Their shimmer is perfect and the subtle hint of color is superb. Even the blue and purple shades are so much fun, and do not go overboard.

The metallic lustre formula is much the same as the other Anastasia Beverly Hills highlighter palettes, phenomenal. Except, they are bolder and braver. The powders feel smooth, creamy and buttery. They can be applied wet or dry. To apply wet, and get even more glow, apply with a damp sponge.

This is a unique, fun highlighting palette that uses a wide range of “different” colors in order for you to create a plethora of looks. If you love wet looking shine and sparkle, and want to be adventurous, don’t hesitate to try it. The shades are more wearable than they look in the pans. They look great on all skin tones. (Even the blue and purple!) And you’ll experience a Northern Lights vibe without being disappointed!
