We use to buy a lipstick, and with it, a lip liner and a lip gloss. The gloss added a glossy, shine to the lips. Now, the needs have expanded in the world of lip gloss, and there are different lip gloss formulas that have different ingredients and different functions, other than just providing you with a top coat for glossy lips. Chanel has evolved their lip gloss formula to include a wider variety of glosses which are more targeted and specific! Let’s take a look at some of them and see if they make a huge difference!
I fell in love with the Chanel Rouge Coco Top Coat lip gloss. There are three Top Coat Glosses in this line that are meant to go over your lipsticks.

Impulsion shade 776 is a Chanel Rouge Coco Top Coat ($30) .The color looks orange in the tube. This gloss is a Color Enhancing Top Coat.
The orange has a soft hint of shimmer. This is meant to be used over bare lips or a lipstick. It will enhance, beautify, better improve and strengthen and increase your lipstick shade.

Excitation 774 is an Illuminating Top Coat ($30) . In the tube the shade looks like a pale gold with shimmer.

There is a small amount of gold glitter in the formula that illuminates, light up and creates a radiating, glowing shine to your lips.

Caviar 778 is an Intensifying Top Coat ($30). In the tube the shade looks black.

The Caviar swatch has a tinge of darkness to the clear gloss. This is the shade that when put over your lipstick as a top coat, will Intensify, deepen and beef up the lipstick shade you are wearing.
My thoughts on these three shades, I think it is an interesting idea to create three Top Coat Shades that each perform a slightly different function. I was a bit disappointed with Impulsion, the orange shade, as it was almost too sheer, with just a hint of shimmer. I definitely would only wear this over a lipstick, and it barely, ever so slightly, enhanced the color of my lipstick. The gold shade, Excitation, had a few bits of glitter in it, but otherwise, it didn’t illuminate my lips to such
a huge extent that would warrant purchasing it again. The Caviar, black shade, did intensify, and darken my lipstick shade. It reminds me of Chanel’s answer to all the black lipsticks out there that are designed to do the same thing.
Chanel Rouge Coco Gloss Gel Brillant Hydratant Moisturizing Glossimer ($30) comes in a variety of shades that vary in pigmentation, ranging from sheer shine to a more intense lacquer. The formula contains jojoba, sunflower, mimosa, and coconut oil to moisturize and hydrate your lips. The tube is the Classic gold and black Chanel Tube. What makes the Chanel glosses unique is the curved doe-foot applicator which is wide and fat at the top (rounded) to use on the upper lips. The curved part of the foot is designed specifically for the lower lip. Layer the top coat over your lipstick. Apply the gloss with the “cocoon” tip for really easy application. These are a limited edition. They give you a high shine, and a watery effect.
I purchased three shades:

Subtil 744 looks like medium pink in the tube.

The light pink on me looks almost coral.

It is a medium colored, watery, high shined lip gloss. It does feel very moisturizing and comfortable on my lips, and is not at all sticky!

Caractere 766 is a deep berry shade. This photo is a good example of the doe foot cocoon applicator tip. You would use the tip, the rounded part, for your lower lip, and the curved part of the doe foot is specifically designed for your lower lip gloss application.

The swatch of Caractere looks almost like it does in the tube, a beautiful berry shade with high shine and medium gloss coverage.

Opulence 754 looks like a dark brick orange in the tube.

The Opulence swatch is a shiny apricot, coral shade with good gloss coverage and high shine. On the whole, these three glosses did just what they said they’d do. They were more saturated, and therefore, more effective over lipstick. Also, the formula was moisturizing and comfortable to wear. It did make my lipstick last longer.
These Rouge Coco Gloss Gel Brillant Hydratant shades were created, not only for their moisturizing benefits, and high shine, but also to layer over your lipsticks to multiply the effects.

Rouge Allure Gloss in Color and Shine 157 Super Coral is designed to give you the color intensity of a lipstick and the lacquered shine of a lip gloss with one click of the tube! There are ten shades in this limited edition lip gloss.

Rouge Allure Lip Gloss 157 Super Coral ($37) has special pigments in the formula to provide pure, saturated color. The formula is advanced, rich in Sappan Wood, Green Tea Butter, and Vitamin E, to provide comfort and protection. This line of Saturated Lip Glosses cam be worn alone or over lipstick for more color intensity and longer wear time. This was my favorite formula, and I had the best results from this gloss. It was richly pigmented, and could be worn alone, or to enhance my lipstick. What could be better than that? I’ll tell you……it goes on like that in one click!
